sigarms229Happened at a station local to me. As I recall the fuel delivery company had insurance that took care of the repairs. Only thing was they wanted to see a receipt of purchase dated/timed when the incident occured. A lot of people that didn't get receipts got hosed.

DrDanHope nobody put a full load of gasoline into their empty diesel tank. It might take more than $500 to fix that problem.

FenrisI once (and only once) loaned my precious diesel Excursion to my sister. She filled the tank with gasoline. Fortunately, she didn't drive very far. But still, it was expensive.

No kidding. My step sister had her then boyfriend fill her early 80's Diesel Cutlass with gasoline and they didn't make it two miles down the interstate before the engine seized. She ended up selling the car As Is for parts because replacing the engine was way over the value of the car.
With the cost of today's high power/efficiency turbo diesels I suspect that a mistake such as this could end up costing somewhere between 30 and 40 thousand per vehicle.
I've stopped counting.

hrcjonNot sure the questions about replacement cost. But a new F350 Diesel CC is a 70K vehicle and the engine replacement is $20-25 plus so it will get replaced in anything newish.

Russ59I recently looked for a long block for an 08 Ford 6.4 Diesel - $14.700. Add accessories and it could push $20k. However I’d imagine it’s be cheaper to cash out some vehicles.
