4MUL8RQuestion On FiOS Gigabit And Wireless True Speed
I have 100 MBPS speed now, and ookla clocks my download over wireless at 65 MBPS. Upload is 117 MBPS. If Verizon gives me a new optical network terminal and gigabit speed, won't I still be limited by the performance of the 802.11 wireless router and the Chromebook?

radiomanYup. But some wifi standards are faster and better than others. I try to go wired whenever possible.

BigWhupI just upgraded to 100mbps, and finally gave up on getting wireless speed to my office computer. About 35 was all I could get. Even tried using extenders and got up to 50 or so.
Rand an ethernet and getting around 115mbps. now.
I can clock over 100 wirelessly sitting right in front of the router but no dice around the corner and through the staircase.

4MUL8RThanks for the input. I wish the Chromebook had a network jack. IF I want to do wired, I guess I'll have to move the router to my office, buy a USB-C docking device, and hook it all up. I'm not sure how to get the router and the TV on the same PL-259 jack -- I tried using a splitter once and that didn't work so well.

Newer MBP's don't have an RJ45 jack. For wired use, I have an Apple Thunderbolt->Gigabit adapter. There are also USB->ethernet adapters widely available, if you have a USB port. I used the Plugable brand before getting the Apple TB one. It was USB 3.0->Gigabit.

4MUL8RFor whatever reason when I connected the router and the tv to the same Jack it dropped speed. Not sure why. I may try again.
