CARROT Weather is the best I have found and I've tried a lot.

By default, the app makes sarcastic insults in an attempt to be humorous, but you can turn the "personality" off.

I use Dark Sky and it will be renewing this Saturday. How do you cancel it??

John

The key to enforcement is to punish the violator, not an inanimate object. The punishment of inanimate objects for the commission of a crime or carelessness is an affront to stupidity.

Dark Sky's going away. Hopefully the new Weather app from Apple will be good since it's supposed to be based on Dark Sky.

WTForecast is decent. It’s weather reporting is fairly accurate. It’s trolling of you when you open the app is first rate.
It never fails to make me smile.

Ventusky weather app is the best $3 I’ve ever spent. I use it for aviation purposes, recreation purposes … everything.

I really like the past to current movement map, then I go to FUTURE to see what I'm up against. Cheers

What is the subscription thing? I simply paid for the app ($3.99 as I recall) and never had any subscription charges. Currently Dark Sky app is no longer listed in the App Store since it's due to go away, I believe by year end. But if you have been paying a subscription fee, go ahead and cancel it under the "subscriptions" tab, although I can't see them charging you since it's going away.

I use a few already mentioned, don't think there's much difference between them.

Last time up camping a bud brought along a multi-function emergency device. I thought it looked like a toy, but it had a great receiver for the NWS broadcasts. Would come in especially handy if out of cell coverage. Forgot how much I missed the those broadcasts, going from local to regional. Nice break from staring at a phone.

Yeah, what's this subscription thing you speak of? One payment and done.

But yes, I could see them still charging you even though they are shutting down.

YES! It's my "back-up" app, and after some adjustments to the settings, it never fails to make me smile.

And to the rest of you/yous/y'all (depending upon where you are in America)-
THANKS!!!
Looks like I have some research over the next few days.

Newest iteration of the iOS weather app has a lot of dark sky stuff. It’s been good enough for me.

I've been using one called RadarX. As the name implies primarily is for radar but also pulls in a basic forecast along with regional NOAA advisories.

It's free but does have simple ads running on the bottom.

I use dark sky as well. I haven’t downloaded iOS 16 yet, but I heard it incorporates a lot of dark sky’s functionality. Might try it for a bit, but dark sky has been great, can’t believe they are getting rid of it.

I use the NWS app for detail forecast discussion and My Radar app for storm radar detail. My radar has a premium version but the free app gives me everything I need. You can hover over a location for quick high/low temps.
