In need of a good weather app(iphone)
I have been using DarkSky for the past few years now, and it has been a great ride- Accurate, reliable, good radar map. However, as of 01/01/2023, they are no-more... Frown

The Weather Channel app can go screw itself.

Any suggestions?
NOAA any good?

Not an App, I use a browser window, National Weather service Weather dot gov and plug in your zip.

No ads, no fluff, no bs.

So Apple bought it, discontinued Android support, and are now killing it off entirely?

Wonderful.

Not that I particularly care. I've found their forecasts to be a mixed bag, their radar always has been wonky, and, ever since they killed-off Android support, their "precipitation coming" notifications less reliable than once they were.

I dumped DarkSky maybe a year ago in favor of AccuWeather.

I paid 4 or 5 bucks for the iPhone Dark Sky weather app. I’m expecting compensation if Apple kills the app.

Long ago I read that Apple was going to integrate the Dark Sky features into the “Apple weather app”. I’ll wait to see if that happens.

That's what I've been waiting for. In the meantime, been using WeatherBug, which I actually like.

I really like the Dark Sky app. Simple, gives what you need with out crap you don't. Yes they integrated the Dark Sky features into the Apple app, but I find it bloated. It pisses me I paid for this app, like it and now they take it away. My feelings fall on deaf ears. I'll just need to go with the flow.

I'm an avid Dark Sky user as well, but use a few others such as Accuweather, My Lightning Tracker (lightning strikes plus radar), and Aviation Weather website (if it's good enough for pilots of private planes and jets then it's good enough for motorcycling).

The one I absolutely hate is WeatherBug. Nice interface, but I swear the damn programmers have tied several locations to the wrong datasource. Had that problem when I was in Alaska. Unfortunately, the last time I was talked into trying it the northern burbs of Houston seem to be one of those areas.

I really like the Accuweather app, I have the paid version now

I used that along with Apple’s weather app for years but ditched Apple a year or so ago after it changed and started doing dumb things (IMO) like showing daily temps reversed with lows first then highs which seemed weird to me.

Dark sky user here too. I also have heard it will become a part of their house weather app.
In the mean time I’ve been using AccuWeather and have been happy with it. like Darksky, no ads and seems to have the info I want in a simple understandable format.

It was supposed to have happened (or started happening) with the release of iOS 16. Perhaps it is one of several promised iOS 16 features that are delayed, to be incorporated at some future point update. I have not yet upgraded to iOS 16, so cannot compare. The iOS 15 weather app was a big improvement.

I hope they do not incorporate Dark Sky's forecasting and current conditions features, as those sucked for my location. That may be due to the choice of weather source information.

I bough the Dark Sky app a few years ago based on the recommendations on here and also really enjoyed the simple interface. I’ll start looking at a few here and see if they work for me.

I use Weather underground for 10 day forecast, temps, Wind, humidity, rain possibility

For radar, I use My Radar, quick and easy at a glance.

Windy.com also has an app, some one recommended during Ian. There radar predicts 9 days in a motion radar sequence.

I think most use the NOAA data, so it’s presentation I look for. Weather at a glance, no scrolling for content, no ads, etc.

WTForecast is good for a little humor!

Another vote for the WeatherUnderground ap. Can be a quick forecast at a glance, or drill down to an hourly prediction.

Does Apple have NOAA as an app?
I have Android and this has forecast and radar. I've found it to be pretty accurate.

WeatherBug. I love this app. When the nasty thunderstorms and tornadoes came through my area (the storms that hit and destroyed the Amazon facility in Illinois), WeatherBug was 5 minutes ahead of everything else for alerts and notifications (radio, tv, and sirens).

Family and gear were safely in basement before the warning sirens went off.
