Chris17404Proud dad moment. We are blessed.
Hi, all.
I'm not one to talk much about stuff like this, but sometimes you are just moved to. I wanted to take a minute to say how my wife and I are blessed. And it’s related to our children.
Our son graduated from college in 2023 with a degree in robotics and industrial automation. An industry that he loves and is passionate about. He got a great job right out of college which pays extremely well, has already had 2 promotions, and is a highly valued member of the company. He got engaged last year and will be married in May of next year. For now, he is living at home, saving money, and paying off debt. He and his fiancé are strategically planning their life and future family together and planning to buy a house next year. I think he will be a good dad.
Our daughter graduated from college this past May with a degree in biology and chemistry, with the intention of going to medical school. She is very driven, persistent, and hard-working. She’s taking a gap year to live at home, reset, and focus on the med school application process. She’s working as a medical scribe and pharmacy tech during this gap year, which gives a lot of practical experience needed for medical school. She has been accepted into 3 different medical schools already and plans to attend Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The path to medical school is something that my wife and I had no experience with, and it’s been an incredible experience being alongside our daughter.
Both of our children lived through Covid during the late high school and college years, robbing them of so many important things in their young lives. But they came through it stronger and determined. Unlike so many people their age these days in America, they have their heads on right, they are doing the right things, making good choices, and they’re living with intention. They have good hearts and are good people. We are a close family, and having both of them at home for one more year before they go off to start their independent lives is special. Listening to them laugh together, there’s not much better.
We are very proud of them. They are not without their challenges and faults, as we all are, especially me, but I do not know why we are so blessed. Maybe we did something right. God was most certainly involved.
Chris

Rey HRHYou did well. Psalms 127 says
quote:
Children are a gift of the Lord,
the fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
so are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
they will not be ashamed
when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

SpinZoneThe saying "the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree" isn’t always meant to be negative.
You should be bragging.

trapper189I’m just happy that after 17 years my daughter is finally asking me for fatherly advise. I’m going to miss her when she goes off to college in less than a year.
