I had a cuisinart that was great until it stopped cooking the bottom. Was going to buy a breville but bought a panasonic that I’m generally happy with other than too small for a 12” pizza.

I’ll probably buy a breville next.

We have a couple. The lay down door is how the ones we have come. Work good. Wife cooked some pork spare ribs in one the other night at a cabin. Worked and tasted great. One gets used out of necessity. The other is more convenience.You can do a lot with them. But they are not a replacement for modern appliances in upscale homes and condos. If she wants one go the Walmart and pick out the one she wants.

This one has a flip down door, but I'm going to suggest it anyway: Breville Smart Oven Pro.

I bought one two years ago and have been completely tickled with it. In fact, the only time I can remember turning on the stove oven was once last winter when it got really cold in the kitchen.

Jim, I was all set to order the Breville, but the first half dozen reviews on Amazon were all disaster stories. Caught fire! Thermal fuse blew! Grabbed my hand and sucked it in! Well, maybe not that one.
I see that Consumer Reports likes them too.
So maybe will give it a try, then have a fire extinguisher close by.

Good luck,I recently replaced mine. There are a shit-ton of options out there from convection to steam cooking, ones with French doors, ones with small computers attached. I searched high and low to find an old fashioned one like the one I replaced, found one and it was cheap. I only use it to toast and reheat things, I'd never use it to cook with.

I bought a Breville 8 something series several months ago during a sale where I also had a coupon and so far I like it a lot.

We have had the Breville oven mentioned above for three years, No issues, works wonderfully. My wife even uses it to cook small dinners.

Here's a Hamilton Beach toaster oven with convection heating and a roll-up door, currently on sale at Amazon for less than sixty bucks.

We have had one as well for a number of years. It gets used multiple times a day and have had zero issues.
Only gripe it is a little tough to clean but that is a size thing and would be an issue with them all.

I have no experience with toaster ovens, but I do have experience with Breville, mentioned several times above. I have a Breville Smart Grill, BGR820XL. Superb design, construction, and materials, so I concur with the Breville recommendations.

Tried to talk the wife into the Breville, she'd have none of it, too big, don't need all those features, she just heats a few things up in it. Picked up an new B&D model at BBB around $30...

Timely thread bc I just started shopping for a replacement for my 20 year old B&D.

I don't want a lot of options, or be too big.

Glenna tried three different counter top toaster ovens, she sent all three back as they got way too hot ( heated up the kitchen a lot) or they took up too much counter space.

The Breville one is phenomenal. It heats up fast and evenly and the optional convection works really well.

A lot of frozen food says not to reheat in toaster ovens because they don't put out enough heat or heat evenly enough and the food won't cook all the way. Never had a problem with the Breville - lots of frozen pizzas and pot pies and things like that.

It is also amazing for reheating pizza. Pop a couple of slices in, directly on the grate, set it for 450* convection bake, and 2-3 minutes after it comes up to temp the pizza is warmed through, the top is bubbling, and the bottom of the crust is nice and crisp. It comes out perfect, better than freshly delivered.
