The American Armoured Foundation museum had their annual flamethrower demo day yesterday. Hot, very hot Smile
Neat museum if you like military stuff - tons of armored vehicles, artillery, even a rifle section and uniforms, etc.

I've been up there once several years ago and it is an amazing collection of tanks and other related items.

Thanks for posting this.
I keep forgetting about this museum and have been wanting to see it especially since I am an Armored Cav guy.

When I lived in Richmond it was a pretty decent round trip drive.

Where I am staying at now in NC, it is about an hour and some change away.

My plans are to attend the:

AAF Tank Museum Vehicle Run Day

October 10, 2020
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

MY father was a Marine stationed on Siapan and Tinian during WW2.

I remember him telling me when there was any down time ( he watched the A-Bomb being assembled on Tinian)they would be sent into the mountains to hunt down Japanese snipers. A sniper shot my Dads best friend in the head while my dad was talking to him.
They would locate caves in the mountains that housed the Japanese, they would then employ a flamethrower into the cave.
He had pictures of the Japanese body's they dragged out.

And we think we had it rough when we were 17-18 years old!

AAF up in Danville, VA is a great museum - military history buffs will find it well worth the visit.

Great collection of armor, lots of other stuff to see as well.

Nice pics flashguy!

mrapteam666 - my son and I are planning on being there for the vehicle run day on 10/10 as well. Give us a shout if you want to meet up.

Same for any other members planning a visit to the museum, give a shout - we are new to the area.

Wow. Reminds me of how horrible and devastating a flamethrower would be on the battlefield.

Can you imagine the sheer terror that those frontline troops in world war 1 must have experienced when the Germans first used that weapon?

Although it seems that the fuel tank only holds a few seconds of actual flame.

I have been up close and personal to several flame thrower demonstrations.

Most offer the chance to try it.

NOPE, NOPE, NOPE. I am not strapping a fuel bomb made by the lowest bidder and then flicking my bick. Nope. No sir. Ima stand way over here and watch.

Or conversely enough for the rest of your life given you roll craps on the battlefield.

Build a man a fire he stays warm for the night. Set a man on fire..........
