My 16 y.o. son brought this ~18 min. video (YouTube) to my attention this evening, thinking that I would find it interesting.

I most definitely did!

The construction of the Lightsaber involved some old and new school machining methods, elaborate design, problem solving and intricate and masterful construction.

The video was published on YouTube on 10/8/20 and there are now almost 15.7M views!

There are a couple of shout-outs to their sponsor's, and one 'commercial' for an smart-phone based fantasy game. Well worth the price of admission imo.

When I watched it the follow-up video queued up right after it.

Enjoy!

Rob

The group that did that one has quite a few neat videos. They've done rail and coil guns also.

Kinda cool but way to dangerous for much usefulness.

If you guys want to see some cool technology that’s useful look up LEP (not LED) flashlights. They look like light sabers because the beam is so tight. They will also light something up thousands of yards away.

The Wright brothers didn't start by building an SR71.

The industrial applications would far exceed 40 year old's acting like 8 year olds. Big Grin
