Live long and prosper |
Hi fellows. Venturing my first steps with Linux, I just installed Lubuntu. Would you recommend a simple yet practical email client, please? Will likely NOT use it as my own personal email client but setup my recently deceased mother`s and my sister`s email accounts to be able to keep an eye on those. Their accounts are outlook and a local IMAP/POP3 ISP, nothing fancy. Thank you very much. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

I will second the recommendation for T-bird. Very fully-featured and correctly-operating, without such pathological artificial constructs as "unified inboxes," etc. Especially good for the poor unpaid support staff who has to figure out what is really going on when the user has a problem. T-bird's about:config exposes all the toggles and buttons that other mailers hide.

I hate artificial constructs, as you call them, such as a unified inbox. Thunderbird by default keeps each account separate in the side panel. But, if you so wish, you can create a unified inbox. That's part of the power of Thunderbird. I've been using it for almost two decades, on PC, Mac, and unix installs. It is also very easy to transfer an entire Thunderbird installation from PC to Mac or unix or any combination, including all of the mail and profiles. Fire the new install up once, to create the necessary file structure, then quit it and copy your installation over. It is also free.
