Left-Handed, NOT Left-Winged! |
I've had 4 Subarus (my ex wife included in the total). 2002 WRX 2.0 was great no major problems for 200,000 miles. 2004 Forrester Turbo 2.5 - engine lost compression on two cylinders at around 150K. 2013 Forrester 2.5 - engine blew at 75K. Had high oil consumption too. 2013 WRX 2.5 - engine out rebuild both cylinder heads at 103K due to bad lash on all exhaust valves. Code was misfires random all cylinders. 2.5 in general is a POS. Newer 2.0 might be better, but after 3 of 4 having major issues, multiple class action lawsuits and settlements, etc. I'm not taking too many chances.

Our daughter had a Subaru Outback 2014 +/-. It drank oil. Usually better than a quart between oil changes.

Subie owner here. 1. The original buyer may have purchased the factory 7 year, 100k extended warranty or if not, 2. The extended warranty can be purchased at any time before the basic warranty expires.

That’s the VA. I’d honestly skip this car and get a new VB (2022) as they can be had under MSRP. Friend in Cali (where prices are sky high) got like $1000 off MSRP last summer. So you should be able to at least get that. The VA is the 2L. But Subaru didn’t solve their tuning issues until the current WRX. The OEM tune is actually good now. Just buy the VB in one of the colors where the cladding on the wheel arches doesn’t look as bad. On some colors it’s absolutely awful. On others it looks fine. The good deal is the premium. A lot of car for the money. Until this year on the WRX the OEM tunes just sucked. The VA has rev hang and honestly buying a used one I’d run for the hills. New, broken in correctly, with finally a good OEM tune, should serve you well for many years. I loathe CVT’s with gusto. It’s worse than a regular slush box. You get used to 6MT even in bumper to bumper where it becomes second nature. If the 6MT is a deal killer then by all means get a CVT 2022, but buy it new. The community will habitually throw tunes on them (Cobb AP), intakes, all sorts of shit, then yank it all off prior to trading it in and you have no clue how that engine was treated. As was stated, you could be inheriting a nightmare once miles are racked on it. Good luck. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I'm a big Subaru fan, and I'd pass. 1. It'll be a cold day in hell when I buy a CVT 2. They just can't keep an engine in a car. I put miles on my vehicles and Subaru engines just WILL NOT allow that unfortunately. Otherwise I love the cars. IDPA ESP SS

It’s a 2015, WRX STI. Fairly loaded. 66k miles. Metallic black. BBS wheels, etc. asking $27k OBO. The “lol” thread

First, the STI was not available with a CVT. Only the 2015 and up (VA) WRX could be had with the CVT. Second, 27k? You can get a brand new 7 miles on the ODO WRX for 29.6k IIRC and probably get a grand or $1500 off to nullify the destination charge. The base. But I’d spend the extra 2k or whatever at 31-32k for a brand new WRX Premium 6MT. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

From pg 1, BC has a friend with the STi, just an alternative to the 2016. The Enemy's gate is down.
