Rule #1: Use enough gun |
https://www.al.com/news/birmin...campaign_worker.html Sue Bell Cobb campaign worker Paul Littlejohn III, a convicted rapist, turned himself in after a warrant was sworn out for his arrest of violation the state's sex offender laws. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on Thursday said their Sex Offender Unit was made aware Littlejohn was working as a pastor at a Jefferson County church. AL.com reported Wednesday that Littlejohn was working for the gubernatorial candidate's campaign, and also that he was working at Greater Shilo Missionary Baptist Church. Chief Deputy Randy Christian said Littlejohn had not reported this employment. Investigators from the Sheriff's Sex Offender Unit went to the church and verified his employment. They also learned that the church operates a daycare and is next door to an elementary school. Littlejohn is prohibited from living or working near an elementary school or daycare. Violation of the law is a felony. Investigators on Wednesday obtained an arrest warrant charging Littlejohn with a violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. The warrant carries a bond of $11,000. Littlejohn turned himself in at 6:41 p.m. Efforts to reach the Cobb campaign were not immediately successful. Littlejohn, 55, was convicted in 1985 of rape and sodomy of an adult female, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency records. He maintained that he did not sexually assault the victim, but that he did not stop the incident, which occurred in a parking lot while he was waiting in his car. Cobb said her campaign was not aware of Littlejohn's criminal history until after he was hired. That appeared to contradict what her campaign manager, Landon Nichols, told AL.com's Roy Johnson in a feature about Littlejohn that was published Wednesday. Nichols said the campaign learned of Littlejohn's past through a background check before he was brought on, but the campaign manager told AL.com on Thursday that there was no background check and that the campaign had checked references. Littlejohn is a field director for Cobb. Through Unity Group Solutions, a company in which he is a partner, he is responsible for cultivating and delivering the African-American vote in the Birmingham region. In March, Unity was paid $19,066, according to Cobb's campaign disclosure forms. In April, the company was paid $18,739 for April. Littlejohn says he employs 12 people full-time for canvassing neighborhoods up to six days each week and three others for phone-banking. Speaking at a Thursday news conference in Linn Park, Cobb said Littlejohn, who she said was recommended to her, has been "literally the picture of redemption" since he was released from prison in 2014, pointing out that he has three degrees, managed a halfway house and became an associate minister. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. Luke 11:21 "Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. "Littlejohn says he employs 12 people full-time for canvassing neighborhoods up to six days each week and three others for phone-banking." So he's a community organizer. We've seen how low down those can be. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier | |||
