If it makes any difference, Pol Roger was Winston Churchill’s favorite champagne.

I agree that the Kirkland Champagne is a very good value. Another very reasonably priced and good line is the Drappier brand. Their Carte d'Or is usually $20 cheaper than most of the other big name houses. Also for what it is worth it was a favorite of de Gaulle.

That would be my suggestion, too.

Veuve Clicquot is also nice.

What do you experts suggest between these two.

Go with the Veuve Clicquot, the label is striking for the unfamiliar and its good all-around stuff. If they look up the price, they'll see you're just not emptying your garage-collection of stuff you've avoided.

If you're striking out, Krug is always a hit, their Grande Cuvee is a sold all-purpose, even if they're wine aficionados they should be able to appreciate.

For fun, if you want to make your eyes water, check out the price on a bottle of Salon Eek

I went to Costco and bought a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

I probably should have bought one for myself.

Lots of good suggestions. This is a great one for 80ish. My personal favorite.

Mumm is a personal favorite. I usually can't find it outside of France too often though. I'm sure the larger liquor stores down in Salt Lake would have it actually. Hmmm, I'll have to take a look.

No idea where to source it here, but we were given a bottle of Ferrari champagne, sent to us by the parents of out Italian exchange student.

Far from a connoisseur, but it was good to us. But, had too much & woke up with a decent headache the next morning.

I've drunk up a lot of the stuff. Moet White Star is nice. Bollingers and Tattingers are also very good.
