| Something wild is loose  |
A reminder, on Eclipse Day , from Carl Sagan. The photo is from Voyager 1. The "pale blue dot" in the top of the frame, slightly to your right, is Earth, bisected by a beam of sunlight on the lens. More than four billion miles from the camera, which is just beyond the orbit of Pluto and leaving the historical solar system on Voyager.  "Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. I am not an amateur astronomer. What exactly am I looking at, other than a noisy picture. Is the little dot up top something of significance? Blaming the crime on the gun, is like blaming a bad story on the pencil. | |||
