there should be a bearing number stamped into the side of the bearing that any bearing supply house should be able to source. Bearings are standardized.

Snap Ring Bearing, looks like a top candidate...

What model is the lathe, that would help with looking up information....

TRIO
DIN 625 look up "Retaining Ring Bearings" suffix either RN or NR.

SKF & Timken are top choices.

Edit to add:
My best guess based on sizes mentioned is
6005-2ZNR

In my home town there was a hardware store. If you'd walked in there with that the owner would have disappeared into the back and returned with a box with 3" of dust on it containing a pair of those. Whatever price was on the box was what you'd pay (likely from 1971)

Our assemblers at my work mentioned that NSK & FAG brand were also good choices.

Gee, why do you think they went out of business?

Don't get me wrong, we had a few hardware stores like that in my neighborhood too. All but one gone now, and I try to give the family-owned survivor all the business I can, but HD, Lowes, and AMZN own that market now.

Just ordered two 6005-2RSNR!

I was a bit surprised that this ended up being metric. Next time I should try both units when measuring.

Those do not appear to be the snap ring versions.
