I heard one of his compositions on my KING FM classical music app. Found a lot more on Amazon Music. Orchestral and Choral. All quite good, and very entertaining. Think Gilbert and Sullivan in French.

From Wikipedia:
“Dédé was a violin prodigy who initially worked in a cigar factory to save enough money to leave the antebellum United States. He relocated to Europe in 1855, studying at the Paris Conservatoire. He eventually settled in France, spending more than forty years in Bordeaux as an assistant conductor and orchestra conductor for local theaters, including the Grand Théâtre and Theatre l'Alcazar. He only returned to the United States once, in 1893, but his performances were severely restricted by Jim Crow segregation.” (He was a black guy.)
