I have a red squirrel around my house that is pretty animated.

He has been acting, well, squirrely, jumping up on the kitchen window sill and smacking the glass with both hands.

I ignored him until yesterday, when he hopped up in the windowsill with a piece of 7.62 NATO brass.

I think he wants to go to Ukraine to help.

Can't be anything else...

How are the ditches in the Ukraine? Spacious? Comfortable? Deep? Blubbering-resistant?

He has something to prove and for the last decade and a half, he's been trying to prove it.

Same.

I was surprised to see WPS' video.

John is a good man. Yeager is a bit of a turd, but I wish him the best. IF I was making decisions for Ukraine, I wouldn't touch Yeager with a 10' pole, and probably wouldn't even respond to the request. He is nothing but a liability. That sucks. If he really wants to go out with a bang, go find some pedophiles or politicians.

I watched (partially) a video poster to Yeager's own page and got the impression he was going to Ukraine with the intent to help train those doing the fighting, not doing the fighting himself. I admittedly did not watch the above video as I just don't have the interest or time in the last few days. I did see enough to see there is still no confirmed diagnosis, so that kinda supports the attention seeking comments above.
I watched Yeager's early channel for its entertainment value and some cool firearm "reviews." And Mooky was always interesting when he was on there.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that he doesn't have approval from the State Department to go train fighters in Ukraine, which is an ITAR violation.

If he's more or less stated he's going to violate the law, I wonder what the odds are he never even makes it out of the country.

You heard right. I saw FiveFiveSixFan's video on my feed.

What he actually said is he applied to the Ukraine Foreign Legion and he's waiting for a response. He said he's all packed up and ready to go.

I think his idea is that he can train civilians to shoot. He said he's trained different nationalities and he only needs to learn 5 native words to be able to teach.

I didn't realize he's the one who has people standing next to targets being shot at.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." ALS is difficult to diagnose in its early stages... Aunt died of it and it took a while for the determination of exactly what was wrong.

Terrible disease, some go fast others somewhat slow. I've seen it both.

If it were me, I’d wish for a quick one.

I've never heard of him. Sounds like no need to waste time finding out who he is.

Good luck with his affliction, whatever it turns out to be.

Maybe...
He knows the odds are against him and he doesn't want his family/friends
see him go down that road.

He is picking to him what would be better terms.

I'm not trying to make him out to be a hero and I would like to think this will not get any more of my attention than this thread. But I have a feeling it will. I know I'm gonna go somehow, but ALS wouldn't be what I want looking back at me in the mirror.

I do hope that he can make the most of what time he has left and on terms that suits him.

Yeager going to Ukraine, that’s a terrifying possibility.

Don’t want that man training anybody.

As for ALS, Aunt died of it, as well as an acquaintance... terrible disease as well we know.

However, a trainer Yeager is not.

Certainly not now, unless you want to learn how to take a dirt nap, or sit in the forever box.

The obit of sorts on The Truth About Guns says that Yeager actually DID go over to the Ukraine in the spring to offer training:

"This past Spring of 2022, he traveled to the Ukraine and offered his services training around 150 soldiers. According to Tactical Response, the city was 95% surrounded when he went in with his team to lend a hand."

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/james-yeager-rip/

I'm not all that familiar with him but in the past I've heard regular customers talk about him and his methods. Some sung his praises, others scoffed or condemned him. Meanwhile I never had any real interest and bothered to take time to find out much more about him. Anyways, RIP.

Thank you for the post, monoblok.

The article is spot on about Yeager and the way he related to his students and staff.

Author Kat Ainsworth Stevens spelled it out quite well:

"People might not have agreed with everything he said or did, but the fact remains he worked hard, taught passionately, and treated those around him as friends even if he barely knew them."

Fighting Pistol, Advanced fighting Pistol, Force on Force and Immediate Action Medical were excellent training (many years back).

I considered James Yeager a friend, as well as a teacher.

RIP
