Possible Texan meetup? Login/Join
Member
posted
Now that the holiday madness is over, I’d like to see if any of y’all are up for a local meetup. I was thinking maybe a Sunday, go to church/lunch/range? Maybe near the Carrollton-ish area so that it is pretty centralized?

I can organize it if there is enough interest.

Let me know your thoughts!

Carrollton centralized for Texans?

It’s about a 4+ hour drive from here, assuming the Austin-Waco parking lot is moving.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I'm in the D/FW area, by my work hours preclude me from making it. Sounds like a good time, thanks, and have fun.

I was thinking for the metroplex folks... I guess we could do a Meetup in Waco-ish if everyone is willing.

I won't be willing to drive that far, but here is a piece of advice:

If you get the sense that people are interested, just set it up for a time and place certain. If you take polls on where and when, you'll never get agreement and it won't happen. So maybe take one poll, get a few options as to what seems most popular, but then just make an executive decision. You can never set one of those up so that everyone will be able to be there.

As Nike says, just do it.

I'm interested, in the DFW area, but am only free on Sundays from about 1230 to 1700.

Might need to narrow down the scope to a region or city. Texas is Big :-)

Last one I had here at my place was a smash!

I have a nice sized ranch, 200 yd rifle range, pistol range, and I did lots of BBQ.

Who was it that let my dogs out tho?
LOL
Dewhorse was it you?
Nah, must have been Dry-Fly, LOL

And JHE came to mine....Razz, I had to bribe him with Scarlett

I live in Terrell. I could open my place up.
In fact, the wife is leaving for 10 days in Feb.
Might be a good time to have a boys weekend.

Flash couldn't make it to my last one, he is still on my hit list, so to speak.....Smile

IIRC, I was either on a trip or had a prior commitment. Sundays are busy for me--2 church services in a.m. and a handbell rehearsal at 1800.

I'd be interested in a gathering. I don't post much but am here everyday. Would love to meet some of my forum friends. I remember the one rainman had, wanted to go but had plans that couldn't be changed.

I’m over here on the west side of the metroplex, but would drive to Terrell or similar. Last SF meetup I attended was when LBJ was in town at one point.

Everyone I met at Rainman’s were a great bunch of men. It was good to put faces to the names here. I don’t mind a drive north again.
