Yesterday I had to opportunity to take some British friends shooting. They had never shot anything, ever.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJZI5RK5uZg

I am thankful for the opportunity to share the freedoms that we enjoy in the U.S. My friends were shocked that there were so many people at the range, all having a good time, all following safety procedures.

I made a video of the event. Several years ago I took some Chinese people shooting. They were also shocked how orderly and safe everyone was at the range.

Your foreign friends were probably expecting this:

You're an asset to the shooting community. It's up to us, to change perceptions and stereotypes when it comes to firearms, their use, and the fact you can really have a fun time with them. Hopefully your British and Chinese friends recognized the enjoyment and responsibility that most gun owners experience.

Whenever my family visits from across the pond, the first thing they want to do is hit the range. Handguns, rifles, shotguns - the whole 9 yards!

Even my elderly parents (RIP) had fun with it!

I was chatting with an Irish family, just arrived in Orlando for vacation. The teenaged boy said he wanted to shoot goans. Guns pronounced like bones. I told him Florida has all the goans he could handle. He reacted like Stephen the Irish madman from Braveheart. “ I’ve come to right place yeah?!”

We have Brazilian and Chinese in-laws in the family.

The Brazilians who visit the US occasionally were very anti-gun at first. They tell me in their social groups (most are docs) they are "told" that guns are only used by "bad" people.
We began by giving them the kind of gun safety rules we learned as kids (they have no knowledge of firearms other than they go bang). From gun safety and range rules we go to firearm handling, etc.
Eventually after shooting a few different types of firearms they clearly began to enjoy it.

We've done about three of these shoots where we start them out on 22LR and progress on to shooting handguns, ARs and rifles.

They love it now- it completely changed their viewpoint and they smile as they shoot.

I love taking Brits shooting. Last year I took some guys from Chile and also had some Canadians.
They just can't believe we (Americans) can own these guns and shoot them anytime we want.
