Soy milk recommendations? Login/Join

I think I'm a little lactose intolerant now. I want to try using soy milk to test. I've tried it before (10 years ago?) and didn't care for it.

Any recommendations for what brand to try these days? Something that would be available in most supermarkets.....?

Are you male and sexually active? Don't drink soy milk. Find cow milk that has had the lactose removed.

I second almond milk.

I am very lactose intolerant, and use different "milks" in this order:

1. Oakhust (local dairy) Nu-Trish milk - a probiotic milk that aids the digestion of the lactic acids

2. Silk almond milk - ok in cereal or smoothies, but I can't drink it straight

3. Lactaid - More expensive - I can drink straight up.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

If I believed this article, I would avoid soy milk regardless of whether I was sexually active.

Are you sure it's lactose? You could try something like Fairlife milk.
My grandson can't drink regular milk, but he does fine with that.

Avoid the soy milk. Go with either Almond Milk, Cashew milk (sold by Silk) or oat milk.....or real milk with the lactose removed.

I guess i need to research soy milk. Never tried nut milk before. I’ve seen Fairlife at the market. I can try that.

Not sure if it’s lactose - just experimenting now. Lactose free and lactose both have similar results so maybe it’s not lactose. Or the lactase is not sufficiently effective.

Trial by elimination....

It could also be an A1 beta-casein problem. A2 milk would be the answer for that.

What are your allergy symptoms? I’m recently in the same situation as you. For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved milk. My wife thinks I’m a freak because I drink 2-3 gallons a week. Been doing that for 15 years or more. I’ve recently cut out milk because I suspect that I’ve developed an allergy that makes my throat feel tight and causes crazy post nasal drip.

I have been drinking soy milk for at least 22 years now. Soy Milk does not turn men into homosexuals or mess with your libido. Please dont fall for that line of BS. If, soy had been a problem, all Chinese men, or Korean men and Japanese men would have been effeminate homosexuals. Please dont believe the misinformation about soy products. Soy products are a good source of plant based protein.

Regular 2% milk has around 8 grams of protein per 8 ounce serving. Soy milk has around 7 grams of protein. If you go with almond milk rather than soy milk, remember that almond milk only has around 1 gram of protein. So make sure that you are getting enough protein from other sources.

Silk brand has good alternatives. Give them a shot. Plus, their chocolate almond milk is the SHIT.

I’ll need to research this. No idea what this is, what I’m currently drinking, or how to determine which to drink.
