I have a pair of 1st Gen Maxtrax's that after nearly 15-yrs of usage, UV exposure, a few odd fluids and serious bending, they finally broke. I've got no problems with going back to Maxtrax, they served me well however I see there's a LOT lot more competitors and knock-offs out there on the marketplace. Anything I should know about, beware of or, stay away from?

Most of my usage is pretty general, I do take a off-road trip to the Eastern Sierras and Death Valley usually once a year (we try), sometimes east of San Diego a few times, and then more snow/mud conditions during the Winter/Spring time in the Sierras.
