Gun Safe Remodel
Long Story Short.. I have a Cannon 36? gun safe. The inside has a drab khaki color and cheap shelves made out of particle board. Most of my collection is Ar15 Defense shotguns and pistols.

Everythging ends of just getting piled up in a heap. I want to tear it all out and make some compartments that work for me.

Does anyone have any resources online for a storage system? or remodeled your safe? I want to see what you did. I need some inspiration

Highly recommend rifle rods and pulling out the space-waster stuff that's built into basically all gun safes.

I basically doubled what I could fit in my safe a few months ago when I finally installed the kit.

I've looked at those in the past. Is the fabric any good? have any pics of it in action?

I was thinking of shelves in half of it and maybe split the other side in half with plywood or metal shelving.

I was gonna say use the range rods.
I did it to the section for rifles in my safe. I can move them anywhere I choose.

The big square of Velcro is just stapled to the upper portion of the safe, then trim with scissors to match the front edge.

The only drawback is I have one rifle in 17 and the kit didn’t come with that caliber. Everyone of them is 22. It’s cool, I just prop him between two other rifles who are tied town via the rods.

The short rifles that won’t reach to top are on one side atop an ammo can. Then the rods work.

Went and took pics.

Like MikeinNC I like gun storage solutions for handguns and longuns, even for my mags, which I need a whole nother safe for, those are just the ones I would grab in a hurry.

WRT to the withering shelves, instead of purchasing shelves at 44$ each from liberty, they were able to send me matched color material for free and I spent 12$ at home depot on some 3/4 plywood and made two additional shelves. You'll notice the ones without the pleather border.

Otto’s is set up much nicer, but this is what it looked like a few months ago when I got done with it. You can see there’s a variety of barrel lengths in there, I set up one shelf as a riser once I figured out the min/max for the heights. Works fine, but I’m at max capacity and need a bigger safe because not pictured is what else isn’t in there. Go figure. Second from far right is my CZ Scorpion, gives an idea how short you can get away with on the rods and still hold them up.

Otto and Smudge.. I like both of your set ups. I kind like the brackets in Smudges set up. Lots to consider

I just ordered some rifle rods and found this handgun rack that looks interesting. Thought I’d pass it along.

They do make them in .17, but not part of the kit.
