XL1200C battery
Hey gang, my 2016 Harley needs a new battery. Their is a dealer close by, but what kind, and why would you replace it with______? I know their are many options, but I value your experience with things like this. Always something new to learn. Thanks in advance. I've kept a battery tinder on it, but it's done...

The Odyssey motorcycle batteries are pretty darn good. You want an AGM battery due to the vibration and heat.

I buy mine from Napa.Last battery went 9 years before replacement. I do use a float charger on the battery.

If you have a East Penn Deka location check there they sell an AGM battery for motorcycles and it’s much less than HD. Advance Auto does as well and if you sign up and buy online with local pickup they give you a discount

I have a 2016 XL1200CX.
It’s on its third “factory style” battery. I use Yuasa’s on all the bikes, the ATV, & lawnmower. The HD probably needs another one before winter Frown
It has always seemed (to me) to be marginal at best when turning over that fairly large v twin. I don’t keep a tender on it, but I ride nearly every day.
I have seriously considered one of the lithium ion replacements that are now available.
But the $$ has always scared me off.

Side note; everyone around here beats the HD dealer on price for the same battery.

If you buy a USA made AGM battery it will either be make by Deka/East Penn or Yuasa Both are very good choices. Shy away from the cheap Taiwan batteries. Get an Optimate battery maintainer to prolong the battery life.

I've got about 4 years on my XL1200 OEM battery. It doesn't get ridden anywhere near as much as my Road King, but I keep it on a charger to keep the battery from going flat. I got the bike used and have no idea how it was stored before I got it, but my experience with Harley Davidson batteries is you get 5-6 years out of them if you keep them charged, 2-3 if you let the bike sit and the battery goes flat more than a couple of times. I've heard bad things about the new Lithium batteries that HD is selling, but I don't have any first hand experience.
