She's locked out of her phone and can't recall the password. Somehow it's my fault. lol. Jr DF #3 told her she didn't need to worry about the password after she set up the fingerprint security. The manufacturer did a system update and forced a reboot that required her fingerprint AND the forgotten password. After several hours of reality avoidance and then reluctant return to it, she resigned herself to a complete system wipe. Not my fault that she forgot the password, but my fault that I didn't tell her to back all her info up. She doesn't know this, but her phone syncs to google automatically and after set up, her contacts etc will begin to reappear within 24 hrs. For now, I've retreated to the reloading room to escape the wrath of SWMBO. lolol You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

You just gotta write em down somewhere. With all the PINs and passwords needed for just about anything anymore, normal people just cannot remember them all especially when they have to be changed periodically.

In addition to that, some sites require annual, some even semi-annual, password changes. And there are different requirements as to upper case, lower case, numbers, using other kybd characters. I keep a cheat sheet. SWMBO.......not so much. I'm sitting in my retreat snickering to myself listening to her lament her misfortune. Well not so much that as how amusing it is to listen to her mope about her misfortune. Won't she be pleased when she wakes tomorrow and it is all restored. Maybe I'll claim I did some hocus pocus and got it all back..... You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Right? Some of my passwords are 15 characters long with as little pattern as possible. No way I could remember those without my cheater. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
Just use a phrase instead of random letters for passwords. Then just throw in some special characters and numbers if necessary. It's easier to remember. "MyDogHas2HugeB@lls" would be an example.

Hey, if it's your fault this happened to her phone, it's equally your good deed that recovered her data. I'd claim it as such! "The Truth, when first uttered, is always considered heresy."

Don't write them down, just have a system. Have a consistent way to create a unique password for each website.

And if you access say, 40 websites, some daily, some only a couple of times a year, many of which have different password specs, and keep all of that properly archived in your mind . . .? I couldn't survive without my password vault. A different strong PW for every account. And I've a "devices" category for PWs and other info for my Mac, iPhone, router, etc. I have the PW vault both on my Mac and on my iPhone, and they sync, such that if I change an item in one, the change appears in the other. I only have to remember one PW – the vault PW. Serious about crackers

1Password. It saves lives. So does KeyPass. Especially working in IT where your passwords need to change routinely. ------------------------- If not me then who? If not now then when?
