Advice needed on high end car purchase please
I have had a Lexus is350 for several years. Never once needed a repair. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I bought a CPO 2008 IS 250 in 2009. One thing about the Lexus CPO warranty to consider is that there is no per visit deductible the way there is (or at least was) with BMW back then. My car has been perfect and a lot of fun to drive. And as others have mentioned, the Lexus service experience has been great.

Bottom line, if you're going CPO, I'd trade a bit of driving prowess (German brands) for Japanese brands' generally better reliability.

I'd never own another BMW again unless it was under warranty. Even though I'd prefer a BMW overall, I'd take the Lexus if it is going to be pre owned.

Love the SS. Here's mine. Notice the SIG hat Big Grin Supercharger going on in two weeks!

You want comfort for a 6 hr drive?? How about 12 hrs??

Ford Flex, I kid you not. It will certainly fall into your budget for a low mileage used one.

Actually, you may have a point. If he meets a divorced soccer mom who needs seating for 10 kids the Flex could be a hit. Big Grin

Well, in that case, he needs a Mercedes 320SL.

Close. He needs the V8.

You indicated Charger was an option, why not consider a 300?

I couldn't imagine buying an actual car instead of a truck. I couldn't stand it. My wife has a Venza xle awd and it's a fantastic car. Wide like my Tundra. She needed my truck for a few days and I had to use the car. It reinforced that I will always have a truck.

I think it was a very close sister car to the Lexus RX 350. My wife is upset the Venza is discontinued. I think the RX 350 will have to be the next car.

Another vote for Lexus here.

I just purchased a 2017 GS350, loaded. Got it for about $6,000 under MSRP. It's replacing my 2003 GS430, which I have owned since new. I pick it up this upcoming weekend.

The GS430 has been a wonderful vehicle. But it is so old, it doesn't even have Bluetooth, or many other modern features we take for granted today. I cannot say enough good things about it. And yes, it has been very cheap to maintain.

If you want comfort and performance, a German SUV isn't a bad idea. I drive a new x1 and it is comfortable, roomy, pretty quick, and handles like a car. Very nice to take long trips with and will get 30mpg highway.

thanks fellas, as to the poster w/ the SS..yes those cars are awesome but i am really looking for something w some name appeal. the Lexus seems to get the nod here, w BMW kinda 50/50 some like em, some dont. My preference would be a cls550 , but between repairs and maint i think it would kill me lol...

thanks, shawn

Nah. Few women know the difference, and fewer care.
