The ride is a bit sporty, tight suspension combined with the stock low profile tires, but it is a nice change of pace from my lazy boy on a cloud SUV's ride quality. It is not a kidney pounder though or a race type ride. The ES is considerably nicer, but that is comparing a true sedan vs. sport sedan.

I had an IS 250 for a few years, followed by a BMW
325i.

The Lexus was a comfortable car to drive, but not as tight or as responsive as the BMW. I always got the impression that the 250 was "girl car," not that it attracted women, but that young, successful professional women bought the car. This is just from driving around and seeing who my fellow 250 drivers, were, along with who was in the service area waiting room picking up their cars. And yeah, it was the ex-wife who wanted the car--I was supposed to pick out the next one Roll Eyes

I didn't drive a 350 long enough to get a very good impression of it other than the gas mileage was noticeably worse. I hated the 250 AWD--I thought it would be more responsive being AWD, but it just felt more sluggish. I guess that makes sense because of the extra weight of the AWD system.

I preferred the BMW as a driver's car. But I will say this about Lexus, they take care of you. I once brought the car in for an annoying rattle. The dealership couldn't fix it, but noted it in the records. I brought it in a second time a few months later for an unrelated issue, and mentioned the rattle again (this was way outside the warranty period). This time they found the problem and fixing it alone was $4500. But since I had brought it in earlier and they hadn't resolved it, they ate the $4500. Lexus' practice of taking care of issues before they became side-of-the-road level problems would eventually cost them $13,000 on my car alone (all of which they paid for).

I know it's SOP to hate dealers, but between them and Lexus, I have nothing bad to say and even wrote my service advisor a nice recommendation letter (next time I went back, he was promoted to supervisor).

BMW--you pay for everything and doing X to a BMW will probably cost you significantly more than doing the same procedure on a Lexus.

I'm not sure the Ford fusion fits the "name appeal" criteria... Wink

An RX300/350 is what the professionals' stay-at-home wives and the real estate agents drive (see Allen,J.) Big Grin

One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was selling my Lexus and buying an Audi.

Hmmm...I'm going to remember that. Audis are so dang tantalizing!

I'm wondering about the upcoming Kia Stinger.

And Audi's are probably THE worst when it comes to breakdowns and cost of them compared to all of the German cars.

I have had a number of ES300/350s over the years, and found them reliable and comfortable.

I have owned two LS430's. These are the best cars, comfortable, reliable, safe, powerful and safe. I have a 2004 now with 170,000 miles.

I also have a 2009 RX350. This too has been very satisfactory, good power, astonishing mileage, great handling.

Jallen, do you mean to say those 250/350's were not comfortable?

Yes. Keep in mind I am elderly, not quite obese, limited agility, etc.

My LS430 is very comfortable to drive or ride in all day long, as is my RX350.

For ~30 years, I drove Volvos which were as well.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Yes and the IS250 is basically a "chick car" as well. It's always women I see driving that car.

Yep, you will hear Lexus a lot.

The mechanic I used to frequent has always said "Toyota or Honda".

In road sales for six years, I drove a 10-year old Acura TL for half the time. Perfect, or near perfect. I made a lot of smaller repairs, nothing major came up.

If I needed another similar car right now, I'd find an 8-year old Lexus ES350, for the value.

My opinion go with the Lexus. Audi's have electrical problems and their engines burn oil sometimes more than a quart between oil changes and they call it normal. BMW is a driver's car but very expensive to maintain. You have to pay to play. Have you looked at Infiniti ? God Bless Smile

Don't buy until you give an Acura a try. I looked hard at the Lexus and then couldn't justify the price over an Acura. My TL is a very comfortable car.
