Rep. Mo Brooks was just interviewed. Seems two Capitol Police officers were there as security, and engaged the shooter (service pistols against rifle) - both were wounded.
At least 5 wounded. Status of bad guy uncertain, maybe dead, maybe in custody. Bad guy was "taken down" says Brooks. Also sounds like it was up close, not a long range event
Rep. Brooks applied first aid to both Scalise and one of the officers.
Signs of the times - Brooks being interviewed 45 min after the event. Clearly still wound up, but quite cogent

Looks like you missed the "Don't jump on the bandwagon" memo!
Violence from the left has been escalating in many forms, from symbolic violence like Kathy Griffin's, and the theatrical assassination of President Trump, to actual violence from BLM and Antifa. This is a definite ratcheting up of the violence.

They are saying he used an AR-15 style rifle/carbine (M4). Oh, the antis will love that! Wait for it..."We must ban assault rifles!" Oh, wait...our fookin' governor is already at it. Asshole.
From Fox News: "McAuliffe then stated that "we lose 93 million Americans a day to gun violence" before correcting the figure to 93 when a reporter pointed out the misstatement."

How about instead we ban Democrats from owning guns, as they're the ones committing these mass shootings?

The shooter at the GOP congressional baseball practice this morning is James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill., according to law enforcement officials. Hodgkinson, 66, owns a home inspection business, but his home inspection license expired in November 2016 and was not renewed, state records show.
Hodgkinson was charged in April 2006 with battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle, according to online records in St. Clair County, Ill. The charges were dismissed, records show.
What the WaPo is NOT reporting is this is the cover photo on his facebook:

Steve Scalise had barely made it to the hospital before the anti-gun media were out to count coup on Republicans (Scalise’s A+ NRA rating is an hot topic). Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks was hit with the expected question and he came prepared:
Brooks is right. Nothing comes without risk. About 35,000 people die each year while engaged in an activity that is not Constitutionally protected, i.e. riding in an automobile, but there is no serious discussion about outlawing cars. As Benjamin Franklin said, those who give up an essential liberty for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
