If you're gonna be a bear, be a Grizzly! |
ECSquirrel, that's one of my favorite Nikon lenses. I actually preferred it to the 70-200 VR lens. Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

That's the one I've had for years. It is a fantastic lens. I've shot many college football touchdowns with it, and it rarely misses (in AF) on a D3 body.

I am looking at a 70-200 at KEH, but I would consider the 80-200. I do not see your email in your profile. Please email me. It's in my profile, or ihowe "at" ymail.com. Obviously the at is converted to @.

May I ask why? The 70-200 VR (1st gen) is exactly what I was looking at.

The VR function has a tendency to make me motion sick. It's nothing towards that specific lens, but all VR lenses mess with my eyes like that. I ended up turning the VR off since I was using a monopod. Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

I went with the older Nikon 70-200 with VR myself. They can be had for about $1K used and are very sharp. The lens is superb with very fast focusing and beautiful results. There is a big difference in the results with this lens over the 70-300 I used to use.
