I’ve never had a really nice pen like this but I’ve talked about it for years then talked myself out of it. My wife gifted me a MB Starwalker ballpoint this year. It kind of goes along with a new job and Christmas, etc. I’m concerned about an issue with the pen, especially considering this was pricier than I would have liked for her to spend. The pen has a metallic tinkling sound when you write. Like the opening has more tolerance than it should have. It’s brand new with the MB ballpoint inside. I’m pretty sure it was a direct purchase. Is this typical of the Starwalker? I would have guessed it would be machined to almost perfect. The tip really doesn’t extend far - sufficient I would say. Looks like most photos.

Can't say I've ever noticed any ticking or sloppy tolerances, but I'll check more thoroughly. I haven't used mine in a couple of years.

I had both a Starwalker Fineline Pen and a ballpoint point. I gave them both to a friend when I quit working. What's nice about them is that with the twist ball point pen, when it's fully opened or closed, the lines line up. Same with the fineliner, when you screw the cap on to close it and when you screw it on the end. But be careful and do not over torque. I had to send mine in to be fixed as it lost the alignment. I think I know where that metallic tinkling is coming from. You open up the pen and the ink cartridge itself is loose. You just have to screw it down. Now, I've never had to do the following with it but since you brought it up, you could put some vaseline on the screw thread. It can't hurt. I've had a StarWalker ballpoint for years. No metallic or tinkling sounds when I write. The tip on my StarWalker doesn't extend very far either. When you twist the pen to deploy the ballpoint, you should be able to feel the ink cartridge kind of snap into place. As Rey noted, maybe the ink cartridge is loose. Enjoy your new pen!

I saw this thread again and had to post the instructions I made for friend I gave the pens to. The straight lines just makes my OCD tendencies all happy.
