The more I read and hear the more intrigued I am
becoming.
Looks like they are going to cut down on a lot of the goofy unnecessary tech that drives up the costs.
I love the front bench seat and it sounds as if they actually WANT YOU to be able to work on the vast majority of it yourself at home.

He can't touch them because they are prototypes. They probably aren't even complete and don't fully run yet. It'll probably be another couple of years before there will be any test drives allowed.

Given the stuff coming out of Germany these days, I don't know how they managed to not screw up the styling. They make the Bronco look like Wienermobiles.

I’ll do nothing to Support fully or primarily electric vehicles such as these. This is one of those areas where we need to band together and say NO! I don't care if it is economically feasible, or whatever. For me, it is an emphatic NO! And I’m doing my best to convince any friends or family considering such devices to also say no. Honestly, since fire investigations became a primary part of my job, and I’ve investigated a number of destructive lithium ion battery fires, I can’t wait to get rid of my plug in hybrid. Just say NO to electric vehicles!

They are some good looking vehicles. I would be interested if offered in a hybrid or gas guzzler V8. I can't afford 60 - 80 thousand price point however,so I guess I'm out.

I owned a 1976 IH Scout, it was great. Small block V8 (I don't recall the displacement) backed by a 4 speed manual. Manual locking hubs. Other than power steering and power brakes, it was manual including window cranks. PA winters with extra salt took a toll on the frame and body.

Parts were fun, one needed the "build sheet" when going to the parts desk at IH. This was back when parts counter folks were knowledgeable and helpful.

If I could buy a 2025 Scout, equipped the same way as my 1976, I would be a happy camper.



Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

^^^IIRC, in'76 IH was using powerplants from American Motors. You may have had the 304. Transmissions were (I think) Chrysler products. Always thought they were neat little trucks.

ETA: The Scout II of that generation had V-8 power from IH's engines shared with the truck line. Many inline sixes of that timeframe were AMC products. Many transmissions were Chrysler A727s, per the Wikipedia.

So they are (kind of) offering a hybrid as an option.
Just does not work in the sense that most other hybrids do.
In this instance the gas motor works as a generator and not a drive motor.
This setup will be perfect for me and my driving.
Charge once a week.
Gas if I need to go to Cincy or the cabin.

I get it, EVs are not for everyone or probably even most people.
I am all about options.

They just did a new video from CES that showed some cool tech features and focused on simplicity. I like having actual buttons in addition to touch screen use. I’m cautiously optimistic about Scout and just hoping to keep my FJ going until they release.

Not sure how the two correlate? I am highly interested and have never been on Instagram.

This is what I am looking forward to. I like the idea of EV technology for some cases.
However I don’t want 360 cameras, door handles to pop out of the doors, a truck that goes 0-6 in 3.0 seconds, lane assist, self driving, ride height adjustments, the list goes on and on of all the crap I don’t want that just drives up price and plummets the range.

Simple, simple, simple is all I want.

Two motors for AWD, rear view camera, GPS/charging location software. Won’t be taking many trips but the software would be helpful.
