We have a “Philips” air fryer and it works great. It’s considered the better brand in the air-fryer workd. For just the two of us it works great. Yes, it is a convection oven in a small package. Use spray-oil (canola) to get the crispiest results and you do want to open and shake the basket every 5 min or so. Fresh fries or frozen fries only take 10 min. Clean up is easy. Our large kitchen oven is also a convection oven and acts as a dehydrator.

Yes, a tiny one.

Basically, they just started putting "air fryers" in freestanding convection ranges. The element on the convection fan is ran at a higher temp than that of a regular convection oven. On one model you need to purchase an accessory basket that replaces the rack...for french fries and such. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bob at the Beach,

will look tomorrow for Amazon Prime Day. It would be worth it just for sweet potato fries.

They are fantastic. I got one from Aldi and use it weekly. It makes excellent fish, nuggets, fries, etc. For things where you want oil like fries, sprinkle them with olive oil or the oil of your choice when frying.

Does anyone do roasted diced/chunked potatos from raw? That’s what I’m interested in. There are a couple models with a wire basket for the rotisserie function... that sounds pretty ideal. Ivevwush fir a rotisserie basket in my normal size convection oven for years.

I see. I’ve already got a nice Cuisinart convection toaster oven and a full size gas convection oven. My wife and mom wanted one but I argued it would be just another gadget gathering dust.
We have the philips and the Ninja. The ninja is cheaper and far superior, I think mostly because of the larger capacity. Philips has an XL, but it is pricey.

They are not bad, but they don't fry.
They can be a decent substitute for frying, but an air "fried" potato stick is not the same as a french fry.
The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Thanks for the responses. I still haven't decided if it's worth the counter space.

after talking to a half dozen people and reading about them on the www, I decided against this thing,
I only use the oven about 6 times a month , and no air fryers were big enough for 90% of the foods.
4 of the people I talked too , say its just something else to sit around,
none had kids though, all retired old farts.
another thing , they say that "healthy eating people love them "
but about 85% of the stuff you buy to cook in them is no where near health. (processed this that and the other stuff w/ loads of preservatives and salt)
