A co-worker is regularly touting how much he likes his. I figure the SIGforum brain trust has some users among us. Are they really all they're cracked-up to be? Typical uses by me would be chicken, chicken wings, french fries, et cetera. Also some have a dehydrator mode. Is it useful, legit?

Las Vegas in the summer isn't when I want to use the oven. Is this a better choice in that regard?

Spent about $75 bucks on one and wish I could get my money back. Not impressed at all.

We have one and it works just fine.

The problem in my eyes is the fact that they are not very big. They are good for one course: Fries etc. They are not a fast cooker.

They are a healthy way to cook but not for the volume of a family

If you’re cooking portions for one or two people they work well as long as you don’t overfill it. Turned out not to be practical for our family of 5. For example, air frying chicken resulted in crispy goodness for the top layer of chicken but soggy sadness down below.

No fryer, been using a cast iron Dutch oven that I bought when I was in college, I fry whatever needs to be fried, cook gumbo and stews, vegetable soup, durn near everything at one time or the other.

I have had mixed results. It does make frying somewhat healthier but my wife complained about it not making things like fries crisp for her. Also some things fry better than others. You can for example spray things like breaded frozen shrimp with Pam or something similar but results frequently are not great as much seems to depend on the breading. Usually Panko bread crumbs are reccomended but this is not a perfect solution either as results are still mixed.

I also bought a Big Easy a few years ago to do a turkey. It turned out great. I consider it a propane fired air fryer (Hank Hill would be proud ). I use it for wings now mostly in between holidays.

A few friends have told us we need to get an electric one for the kitchen but besides fries or maybe wings I'm not sure if it would get much use. Interested in the responses to this thread.

Does anyone have this one? It's a little bigger than some.

My wife and I have a Gourmia air fryer that we bought as Costco for about $60. We like it except for the size. It comes with a wire rack that ostensibly increases its capacity, but things do not seem to cook very well when you put food in both the bottom and on the wire rack. Most often, we just put food in the bottom.

Fries, both potato and sweet potato are great. I’ve made homemade chicken strips that turned out good. It’s very good for frozen, breaded shrimp, not greasy at all. I like it, but wish it had more capacity. For example, sweet potato fries take about 18 minutes. If the potato is very large, you can’t even cook one whole one at a time. Completely impractical for a family, unless there’s one out there much bigger than I’ve seen. Kinda noisy too

This, I did a turkey in mine and it works awesome and is easy clean up. They make baskets to cook all sorts of things in it and it's fool proof, turn it on high, light it and let it go. The turkey came out perfectly crispy on the skin and tender and juicy inside.

Amazing device. Makes healthy French fries, amazing wings and great vegetables. The ninja is cheap and amazing, better that the Philips I started with. Bigger is better!

We picked on up at Costco a year or so ago. Tryed it once on french fries and returned it the next day. Too much money to the same job my oven does with better results.

My parents gave us a Big Boss 16qt one from Amazon for Christmas a couple years ago. I was skeptical at first but after making the first batch of chicken wings, I was a convert. Very useful product but it does take up a lot of counter space.

+1 good for a couple maybe 3 servings. The nasty frozen corn dogs come out pretty good, with no mess. Not sure I’d pay for another it was a gift. Like the instant pot, wouldn’t pay for another but it’s handy enough to keep.

I hoped to get some buying info from this thread.
