Page late and a dollar short |
I was an EMT in the 80’s. We had a state mandated two page run report to be filled out for each run. All information had to be filled out. Did a removal just after this new report went into effect. One box dealt with the condition of the patient upon arrival at facility. Three choices, patients conditioned worsened, improved or did not change. I checked the last box. Secretary called me the next day asking for an explanation, I responded with “Any better suggestion?” -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. I second the motion to open and read your mail. My late wife would toss mail from our health insurance provider into a pile. Said it was all either junk mail or statements she already knew about, required no action and didn't want to waste her time on. So one day I took this pile and went through it. Among the junk and statements I found refund checks totaling over $5,000. You better believe I open every one of those letters now.

Shows you that people can't fo their damn jobs. And there's no accountability. "oops it was a mistake. YOU fix it". People are just plain stupid. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

You're looking at this the wrong way. A legally dead man cannot be convicted of a crime. Go rob a bank, rob several, you can make yourself rich enough that you won't have to worry about insurance. If they try to arrest you, show them your BCBS death certificate, courtesy of the Social Security Administration, a bonafide and official office of the United States Government. Is anyone really going to argue with Uncle Sam? I think not.

Slippery slope though. By that logic, without repercussions somebody (e.g. insurance beneficiary) could bump him off since he's already dead. Reminds me of the 1999 movie Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd. Great movie. We've watched it several times over the years. It never gets old. Judd may be a whack job, but she can act. .

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do. |
HRK, I've thought about it but so far it really hasn't been much a financial problem (until the tax thing came up) but just more of a pain in the ass. I just wonder if it would more trouble then it is worth at this point. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.
