He needs more jail time than just 3 months.
“An Alaska man and his son have been sentenced to jail time after they slaughtered a mother black bear and her two cubs in their den in a vicious act unknowingly caught on a research camera.
The father and son had skied to the remote bear's den on Esther Island in Prince William Sound in the Gulf of Alaska when they attacked the mother bear in front of her two cubs.
Then the father turned his rifle on the crying newborns…”

DonDraperHope they don't allow either one to hunt ever again.
NM after reading the whole article I see the dad lost the privilege for 10 years only...

EdmondSimple solution for assholes like this: let them go bear hunting without any weapons. If they can survive a few days, they're free to go home.

old rugged crossWhile I am a hunter this is completely off the charts inexcusable.
Probably was going to be an episode on one of the fake alaska tv reality shows.
Terrible. Anyone who would do such a thing has made a habit of doing all kinds of terrible unethical violations.

I'd prefer letting bears go unarmed people hunting.
Soak these three in the scent of a female in heat and let them go, nekkid, in an area where there are lots of big male Alaskan browns, with the obligatory GoPros mounted to their head.

JellyGlad they got caught. At least the dad got some jail time for that despicable act many poachers don't even get that.
"In addition to jail time Andrew was ordered to pay a $9,000 fine, forfeit his pickup truck, boat, trailer, weapons, skies and cell phones and had his hunting license revoked for 10 years."
At least they hit him where it hurts in Alaska. A 9K fine, forfeit his pickup truck, boat, trailer, weapons, skies and cell phones is a good thing.

They both are already a proven poacher. Once a poacher always a poacher as far as many people are concerned.

sourdough44Yeah, that was totally unethical and the rest. No sense behind any of it. I would think they will lose hunting privileges for a period of time also. They may be hounded in social media for a while too.
Seems to have some similarities with the snowmobiler in AK a few years ago who filmed himself shooting a moose on the trail with his Glock. He implied the moose was a ‘threat’, which I didn’t see on the video.

I'm not going to volunteer to mount a GoPro on a big brown bear!
