Amazing Math Trick For as long as I can remember, I have loved math tricks. This one really works! And this one is truly amazing It will take you only about ten seconds and, amazingly, it will reveal your all-time favorite movie. I'm pretty good at math, so I did it in my head, then on paper, and finally on a calculator just to confirm my mathematical calculations. Each time I got the same answer, and sure enough, it is my very favorite movie...EVER! DO NOT cheat. DO YOUR math, THEN compare the results on the list of movies at the bottom. You will be AMAZED at how scary true and accurate this test is: 1. Pick a number from 1-9. 2. Multiply that number by 3. 3. Add 3 4. Multiply by 3 again. 5. Your total will be a two digit number. Add the first and second digits together to find your favorite movie (of all time) in the list of 17 movies below. Movie List: 1. Gone With the Wind 2. ET 3. Blazing Saddles 4. Star Wars 5. Forrest Gump 6. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly 7. Jaws 8. Grease 9. The Nancy Pelosi Resignation Speech 10. Casablanca 11. Jurassic Park 12. Shrek 13. Pirates of the Caribbean 14 Titanic 15. Raiders of the Lost Ark 16. Home Alone 17. Mrs. Doubtfire **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

April first, that is not a joke or a prank. The only thing better than her resignation speech would if she resigned silently. We’ve all heard far too much from her already.

I have seen that before. A math professor friend showed me how it works mathematically. Sadly, he is a liberal. I don't think he would appreciate the (truthful) humor. Very simple: n = 1 through 9, not 0 the operations result in (3n + 3)3, which is 3(n + 1)3 which is 9(n + 1) (n + 1) will have a value of 2 through 10, which means that multiplying by 9 will have a value of 18 through 90, a 2-digit number. It is a provable fact that adding the digits of a 2-digit multiple of 9 will always equal "9". (Exception: "99", but in this problem the highest multiple is "90".) flashguyThis message has been edited. Last edited by: flashguy, Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Although the truth of my conjecture that all 2-digit multiples of 9 (< 99) will have the digits add up to 9 can easily be proved by examination, it also works mathematically. 1. 1 x 9 = 9 (write it as "09" and the digits add up to 9) 2. 9 = 10 - 1 3. multiplying is just adding consecutively: 2 x 9 = (1 x 9) + (10 - 1) = 09 + 10 - 1; this increases the 10s digit by 1 and subtracts 1 from the units digit, so the sum of the digits remains the same (9). flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth
