Every day 870 cubic miles of water evaporates from the world’s oceans
We had a thread on here couple weeks back contained some equations of large numbers. Don't remember the context; they were in fact big though.

In this thread, I wondered just how many gallons 870 cubic miles was. It's 9.5787e+14. Still pretty big, big enough can't wrap my mind around it.

Ground water is pumped out for human uses, and pretty much all of it ends up running off into the oceans. Thus raising sea levels and reducing the salinity of sea water.

But really I do wonder how one determines a highly accurate "Sea Level". Land moves up and down. Sand moves onto or off of beaches. Tides vary. Wave heights vary, including small waves.

and ground water that is pumped out is replaced by water from oceans which seeps back underground too.

What about all the spring breakers and other casual beach goers who piss in it because the bathroom is too far away.

Got to factor that in too.
