| By Jonathan Bullington NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune New Orleans police released surveillance footage of the man authorities say reached for a gun while trying to rob a woman Sunday afternoon (July 23) on Governor Nicholls Street in the French Quarter.
Police say the female victim was walking along the 800 block of Governor Nicholls about 2:15 p.m. when a man came up to her and, while demanding her property, reached for a gun tucked in his waistband. The woman ran from the area and the man took off empty handed.
The surveillance footage shows a man in a gray shirt and jeans, walking a bicycle along the Governor Nicholls sidewalk toward the 800 block. Later, the same man is seen on his bicycle, quickly crossing the street. A woman who is not immediately in the frame runs down Governor Nicholls, while it appears the man puts an object back into his waistband.
Anyone with information about this man's identity, or this attempted armed robbery, should contact NOPD 8th District detectives at 504-658-6719, or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. |
