I have an apple tv and bluray player attached (HDMI) to my receiver and TV. Everything conveniently turns on/off together when I want to watch video.

But sometimes I want to just listen to CDs using the bluray player (connected to receiver via toslink). When I try to do so, the TV comes on as well and shows static track information.

I don't want the track info to be displayed. I'd prefer to have the TV be black or just remain off. Is this possible? I've read that it might be possible but no instructions how to do so. Is there some general method to do this?

sounds like they are connected by HDMI cable, turn e-arc off so the receiver doesn't send a signal to the TV turning it on and off

At least the Blu-ray player I recently picked up that is connected to my TV via the AVR has a 2 minute timer where the screen goes black (screen saver).
