As a young man, I had a 1979 Corvette. At that time, they had been pretty well neutered by emission controls, although it was a good looking car. Now, at age 67, I've ordered a 2025 C8 Corvette, so I guess you might call it a post mid-life crisis car..

I'm glad that Honda/Acura has resurrected the Integra, it was an important part of the early glory days of Acura. I had an '86 Integra LS. Loved it, but it sucked on a long commute Sacramento to Bay Area, so I got a Legend. It was OK but not so much fun. Next came a 2005 TSX, and that was the Goldilocks car.

My mid-life crisis car was a Honda S2000, and I still have my second one sitting in the garage (and rarely getting taken out). My daily driver is a 2018 Accord 2.0 T Touring; I consider it the best sedan of the lot, and virtually a sport sedan.

I looked at a Civic Si right up until they said $40k out the door. At that point, an A-Spec Integra with the technology package is the better vehicle. I believe you need the A-Spec and technology package to get the manual transmission.

With a little luck, on Friday I’ll be picking up the next best thing to my mid-life crisis vehicle: an I’m going to live vicariously through my 18yo son vehicle. I’ve been looking at vehicles and I’m amazed and disheartened at the prices. The only things I can find for what I think a reasonable amount would be are soul sucking, life sapping, sleep inducing, totalitarian approved pedestrian transportation boxes. So I’m spending more than what I think is reasonable and he’ll be getting something much cooler than the 12 year old minivan that he’s been driving without complaint.

Just test drove a 2023 GR86 manual. I’d previously driven the same car with an auto. Both were zippy and lively in the turns. I much preferred the manual. The best part of the drive was watching my wife wind it up and start laughing about how fun it was to drive. Need to find a way to bring it home. If you can drive one, they are simply fun.

I’m sorry, I’m missing the reference. You mean a Civc Type R? He says they’re too obnoxious. I say they are way too much money (market adjustments, etc.) and would probably get stolen from the USF parking lot in the first week. Weren't you having issues with a Beetle recently? Old Top Gear reference to the 911 being a Beetle in a suit
May be thinking of another member.

I'm not positive, but wasn't it only the 912 that had the Beetle engine? I thought all 911's had a six cylinder...not not sure.

I believe that's technically correct.
I was just poking fun, thought I'd recalled trapper having a Beetle that was having some problems recently

Yeah, that was me. The Beetle is already spoken for by my daughter. If all goes well, the Beetle will gain a Teutonic four door brother tomorrow with an LSD for the FWD.

Only FWD German sporty 4-door that immediately comes to mind.

Corvettes in the C4 group are the least expensive and still offer great value, plenty of power, excellent handling, easy to fix and parts are not expensive. C5 and C6 are similar, better cars, and a bit more money.

And you can get an automatic or manual in those vehicles.
