It's $4 and they're threatening the owner over $4. In other words, they've valued their dignity at $4. Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

Too bad he didn't record the production assistant. The studio would have canned his ass on the spot. He needs to put up security cameras to record these assholes and out them. I'm willing to bet they are within the bounds of extortion and can be charged for it. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

I first heard this term working in Public Relations for Cheyenne Frontier Days a couple of years ago. I was told that this guy showing up was an “influencer” and had a shitload of followers. “What?!?” was my reply. I guess he did, there were people that knew of him and thought it was a big deal that he was there mingling with him. I still don’t get it. _______________________________________________________ despite them

The guy behind the guy |
The kids who swarm to the products these influences post will soon learn they’re being used. Notice in the gun community, we call these people shills, not influencers. You buy stuff they post pics with? Why? After buying garbage for a while they’ll soon realize they and their dollars are being used by these influencers to get free stuff. Read reviews, do your research and don’t trust anyone who is being paid or given products for free. Consumer research really isn’t that hard.

I had one of these fucktwits try to hold me hostage last year but the mistake she made was that she signed a contract BEFORE she tried to play the influencer card. I was doing a series of shoots for a national brand I work with and they wanted to feature real customers and their stories. In exchange for time/exposure the customers would receive a Yeats wort of goods/services which they was actually a very generous deal. Upon agreeing and booking they signed a release form agreeing to the deal and also allowing what we shot to be used for marketing. Well, one little skank decided that her play was to let us travel to her state, meet in the missile of nowhere then, about 45 minutes before cameras rolled, tell us she was an "influencer" and would need an additional XXX in compensation. My client flipped out so I quickly took her off alone (with my assistant as a witness) and told her that she had signed a contract which was binding and that if she pushed this my client would. out like sue (no idea if they would). She was not happy but understood and we got through the day.

Kevbo, they shoulda just packed up, right then. and since no filming was done, no years worth of services would need be provided. You completely missed my point. The social media influencers threatened to ruin the guys business because they couldn’t/wouldn’t fork over $4. I think the owner’s responses are great- tell the free loaders to fuck off and charge them double Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

I know I'm getting old because this influencer stuff is pretty alien to me. My wife has a big family, however, and two of my nieces are social media influencers of some sort. One is constantly "posing" her kids for cute pictures like they were props, taking selfies of herself, never stops checking her smartphone, etc. She used to be a great young lady. Now I can't even talk to her. The other is quiet and friendly. I'm told she has a blog that has thousands of followers. But, when I see her at family events, her phone stays on the table, and she is a pleasure to talk to. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

Influencer = Unemployed (Too lazy to go pursue an actual career) There were articles in the past that spoke how hot women posing as "Professional Instagram Models" were trying the same thing - except extorting tropical resorts etc to get free room/board so they can take photos for their followers. The managers of the hotels got smart really quick and knew these were fake ass people who are generally worthless to society.

I've read that Yelp has already been to court over this and won. Extortion by any other name is a problem with these online, foo-foo companies that offer feedback on businesses. A lot of people have started giving them the finger. V.

Yeah, I was speaking about the general disdain for "influencers", not necessarily this particular story. I also noticed how my phone screwed up my spelling. It should have said if they get "douchy then fuck 'em." I think maybe my point was lost because of the typos. My phone doesn't think douchy is a word. These go to eleven.
