Edit. I own an X45. Kids love it. Wakeboard, surf, ski and tube. It will do it all and holds 18 people.

Do not seem to be even comparable.

Yeah 40k for a very small and underpowered boat vs a 40k proven wakeboard/surf/ski boat. I see your point.

I was thinking more like grabbing the Sea Doo in like 3 years when they are closer to 20k used. The model I specd out new was 32k.

Looking to do more than just Ski and wakeboard. The Seadoo seems far more versatile.
An inexpensive but capable pontoon for someone who is not an avid boater and likely never will be.

Your original post said ski, wakeboard and tube with kids. This is exactly what I do every weekend. No way a pontoon is more versatile than a wake/surf boat. Been on the water my whole life. Have had many boats and been in many boats. You asked for advice and I’m giving it too you but sounds like you made your mind up.

My opening post also says fishing. As I said I am not a boat guy so my thought process could be off. But the SeaDoo has a flat, modular nearly instantaneously adjustable deck.
I have looked at a number of pictures of the Mastercraft and don’t see a single configuration that would allow for 3 people to fish from the bow. Most would seem even 1 person would have a difficult time doing it.
Also a quick perusing does not even come close to finding a $20k Mastercraft that is not beat to absolute hell and back.

So if my thought process is complete off please share some specific examples of a Mastercraft that would be good for fishing and the water sports.
Yes, I realize the Seadoo is not going to be a balls out fully capable ski boat but I am not looking for that. If we were able to be on the lake every weekend may be a different story but it will spend more time fishing on the river.

If we got each other, and that's all we have.
I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand.
You should know I'll be there for you!

You don’t want a wake board / ski boat. The market for wakeboats is insane. I don’t know what it’s going to do, but I could sell mine for more than I bought it for 5 years ago and they are not cheap. I own a Malibu VLX and I love it, but it’s not what you’re looking for. I’d recommend 20-24 ft pontoon with a Yamaha 4 stroke 100 hp or greater. Throw a trolling motor on the front and you’ve got a decent platform for fishing. My pontoon was 2500 with a shitty Mercury motor. We replaced the engine with a yamaha and re-did the carpet and vinyl. We’ve got about 12k in it and it’s a solid boat. I probably put more hours on the pontoon than I do the ski boat.

I missed the part about you wanting to fish. My apologies. Yeah, get you a pontoon or some kind of fish and ski combo.

Because of COVID, all boats are way over priced right now. Just like used cars. Prices will come back down again.
