Wild boar subdued after charging patron at Morgan Co. gas station
A wild boar was ultimately subdued after it tried to attack a customer at a gas station in Priceville early Monday morning, Priceville police said.

Decatur officers initially responded to a report of a wild boar charging a patron at the Chevron gas station on Point Mallard Parkway Southeast around 3 a.m., police said. The Chevron station is within the Decatur police jurisdiction. The animal then ran to the Mapco gas station and into Priceville police jurisdiction.

Officers spent about 30 minutes chasing the animal through a field near the Comfort Inn, and across Highway 67, police said. Officers eventually blocked traffic in attempt to safely catch the animal. However, a Priceville officer fatally shot the animal to "keep it from causing any more damage," police said.

"It was an aggressive, wild boar," Priceville Acting Chief Rick Williams told AL.com. Officers said the wild boar weighed nearly 350 pounds. Animal control officials had to use a backhoe to remove it from the scene.

Social media posts show the animal lying on the ground.

Any details on what they shot it with? I have a feeling a service pistol just pisses off a 350 lb wild hog.

Not sure. The story following tells of a guy who shot a 850 pound hog with a 38 special. I looked at pics of the recently deceased hog and it was hard to tell. Again shot placement is the key.

Y'all raise some clean pig up there in Alabama. They don't look near so nice when you chase 'em up out of the Florida swamp. We've got mangy-ass pig down here.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

One of that size would probably be better served as hickory smoked sausage and white gravy.

IIRC if you shoot them in the same spot as in whitetail deer, right behind the front leg, that's the heart and it's a kill shot. Forget any kind of shot with a .38 to the chest front on or head as it may just bounce off or not penetrate at best. These things are practically armored.
