A huge controversy in Great Britain. Groups are hanging, painting, displaying the St. George flag all over the country.

Is this an indication that the people of Great Britain have had enough?

Brits: tell us the story please.

I'm betting it's the "immigrants" that don't like the flag of the crusades.

There are a number of YouTube videos that come up when searching for “St George flag,” but a recent one that discusses the matter very briefly is a “The Wire” video from S2 Underground:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmBJLbPw3W0

This is yet one more example of how oppressive the UK government has become in recent times as people can be and are charged criminally for expressing any dissatisfaction with the state of affairs there. But as Joseph de Maistre observed, “Toute nation a le gouvernement qu’elle mérite.” [Every nation has the government it deserves.]

I think they are sick of unbridled immigration, oppressive government, and excessive taxation.

I cannot believe what the average Brit has to put up with to live their lives.

My mom who lives in England is visiting us here. During conversations about what's going on there with the "ultra left wing" government she keeps saying that the Brits "are up in arms".

Well not really, are they? The government is buying votes with extensive benefits and heavily playing the rich vs poor card. It is a beefed up version of what we're seeing the Dems do here, vilifying anyone who has worked, saved, and been self sufficient.

Too bad they don’t actually have arms since they disarmed themselves. Otherwise they might have had a chance.

Yep, the British government learned that lesson about 250 years ago.

From the above link:

quote:
While some people living in area where flags have appeared are happy to see the displays, others have said they find them intimidating.
Some have questioned the motive behind the movement, with the St George’s flag being associated with some on the far right.

A man who lives close to Woodthorpe Road, in Kings Heath, where a roundabout was vandalised, stated it was "not patriotic, it just feels like an excuse for xenophobia”.

"There are better ways to show pride - ways that are inclusive and respectful, not resorting to vandalism," he said.
Another woman living in Kings Heath said: "They make me feel very uncomfortable and do not represent me."
The reason why some associate the flag with far right groups, vexillologist (one who studies flags) Malcom Farrow said, is because Britain has never been a nation that has flown flags often and so "nutter extremists" have been able to hijack them as their own symbols.

Moseley resident and political activist Femi Olawale added those who have done the most damage to the reputation of the flag are those "who use it to justify movements that end up damaging the UK, that end up dividing us as a country".
Sabiha Aziz, a local campaigner from Acocks Green, said it was a "crying shame" that the "far right" had exploited the flags, so that they "symbolise hate and division".

Her views were supported by a number of people who spoke to the BBC.

This always happens nowadays. Every year the Leap Frogs, Navy SEALs parachute demonstration team jumps into the arena at Cheyenne Frontier Days. One of the SEALS always jumps with the First Navy Jack, with alternating red/white horizontal stripes and an uncoiled rattlesnake. The words “DON’T TREAD ON ME” in black on the lowest white stripe, underneath the rattlesnake.

Of course the Left identifies the Gadsden Flag (and I assume the First Navy Jack) with all the negative things Britain’s Left sees in the Flag of St. George, symbol of England since the late Middle Ages. Unbelievably, both Brits and Americans have even attached negative connotations to the national flags of both the UK and the USA.

I have a St. George's flag, also a Scottish St. Andrew flag, and a Welsh flag, and the Cherokee nation flag, Irish flag that flies from my porch, and an American flag on the flag pole in the front yard. All my heritage and I'm damn proud of being an American mutt!

I say good for the Brits! Especially if it pissed off the commie globalist!

Maybe secretly jealous of Alabama ? Very similar flag.
Seriously though It’s the national flag of England. Why can’t they fly it ?

During the last 4 years I flew my Florida state flag only quite a bit. I put up a fresh new U.S. flag on 1/20 this year.

I’m sure the St George flag triggers people or they try to project on people flying it. Similar to our appeal to heaven and Gadsden flags they were used historically but now leftists try to assume something by those flying it. Some people assume even on our US flag as well.

If I was English I’d fly it. I have a Scottish blue with white cross flag as I have significant direct lineage to Scotland. I don’t fly it outside however

Same colors, but Alabama uses the St. Andrew cross (diagonal/saltire, just like Scotland) while England uses the St. George cross (straight).

England's flag also predates Alabama's by several hundred years.

The BBC is the last place I would go to for an objective report. Heck, I'd take the Guardian over the BBC.

You need to go to X and follow people like Lawrence Fox. They are considered "right wing", maybe "ultra-right" or "extremists" by the government, and therefore by the BBC; but they are probably not as conservative as the average SF member.

For context, consider that the UK government has police monitoring every social media platform; that they have just introduced the most pervasive facial-recognition program anywhere in Europe, and they have CCTV cameras everywhere. They've put people in jail for praying silently on the street, or in their homes. I am not joking or exaggerating. The UK government even tries to reach across the Atlantic to get US-based platforms to take down posts.

The Brits are painting red stripes on anything white as well, such as crosswalks.

There's a joke there that any pot hole will be painted with the St Georges cross with the hope that it will finally get filled.

I know, I see it almost daily living as close to AL as I do. And the FL flag is the same as AL except has a state seal on it. All similar to the Spanish Florida flag which is extremely similar to both teg FL and AL flag but with spikes on the red.
