This ingenious device was invented by a young New Zealand girl and made in Australia. To bad, it's already been copied by to many copycats. It's available direct through the link, NORTHERN TOOLS or AMAZON. There are two sizes, depending on the throat size. I bought the XL size. It used to take me hours to split enough 6-8+" rounds of seasoned oak to last a week. I used a 4# steel wedge and an 8# long handle sledge hammer. But with this tool, it takes me 15 minutes using a short handle 4# sledge hammer which is much less tiring. https://www.kindlingcracker.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Kindlin...litter/dp/B0725RRRS5

Mine gets used a bit. The real challenge is to get the bucks down to a size that will fit in the throat. === I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

Here you go, a wood spliter that's little unconventional: Link to original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj8A6gUN-iw ...let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. Nice looking product! If I didn't have a huge quantity of white pine limbs laying around as well as a hydraulic splitter I'd buy one! No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

They actually work pretty well. My wife uses it to split up small wood for starting fires. Definitely not something you'd use on an 18" oak

When we had 3 families burning wood, we used to split 10-12 cords of wood per year. Even with the burly hydraulic splitter that my brother-in-law built, this was a daunting task. We're now now down to 5-6 cords per year. I still don't consider this process either "quick" or "fun". We split Ponderosa pine from our family ranch. Any branches or tree trunks under maybe 6" in diameter are essentially thrown away -- we just toss them into gullies to reduce erosion. The small stuff just isn't worth our time. Our largest trunks are around 30" in diameter, although most trees have trunks in the 18-24" ballpark.

It does make me wonder about McGyvering a different blade for the hydraulic splitter.
