PykerA 358th Birthday? Well, of course, for the Royal Marines!
Today marks the 358th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Marines. Originally named the 'the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot', they became the Royal Marines in 1802.
Royal Marine Commandos Happy birthday!

Blume9mmMy father and some of his marine buddies attended a reunion a number of years back hosted by the Royal Marines... seems a few of the Royal Marines get to claim the honer of being part of the Chosin Few. Back in November and early Dec of 1950 my father along with some other U.S. Marines were dealing with a few Chinese that had crossed the boarder into Korea and while McArther after ordering the marines to Surender was telling every one not trapped to run south a company of Royal Marines fought their way in.
seems the battle of the Chosin Reservoir is pretty much forgotten now. The official word from the Marine Corps is it is the most decisive battle they ever fought. Numbers I have now is something like 1,000 marines dead another 4,000 wounded... Chinese and North Korean losses... officially over 40,000 but it seems China just put out a propaganda movie about their 'heroes' of this battle.... 52,000 dead. To me that says a lot about China.

2PAKDidn't Prince Harry just get replaced by his father as Capt. General of the Royal Marines? I hope Megan was (is) worth it. In about 10 years (or less) he's going to be divorced in any case and become eligible for 'Royal Footman' when he moves out of Hollywood back to England.
