During my college years working for my brother’s general law firm as a criminal defense investigator, I became aware that most of the thug clients were incredibly narcissistic individuals unwanted as children. They received no parenting because they had appeared as if by magic or through the devises of “welfare queens”.

I am convinced that these adult males capable of procreating would embrace the opportunity to collect $500 or even $1000 for a virtually painless reversible procedure and never have to worry about child maintenance. Just think of the vast amount of money saved by stopping the creation of criminals hell bent on major and minor crimes. This would be available to any male regardless of good or bad character.

Of course should any individual desire to have children after all, only a trip to the restoration doctor is needed - at his own expense of course. I suspect that those who would choose to reverse the procedure would also be nurturing parents.

I see no reason to limit this to any race, creed or cultural attributes. I suspect that it would take perhaps some 40-60 years to see the full effect of this program, but perhaps 20 years would give a vision of success. I am not naive enough to believe that it would solve all of the problems.

I can see objection to this plan from socialists and that lot as it would rot away at their base of both voters and the necessity for ever greater government intrusion to provide services to these “victims” of society.

I would like to hear from the Sigforum mind as to where I may have gone wrong in my thinking. I certainly claim no infallibility and have not actually spent an enormous time developing this concept as I have “no true original thoughts”.

You might have an issue using tax dollars for it - not sure how the Catholic church views it.

But, its logical, certainly. Heck, make it a $5,000 bonus/whatever a birth costs medicaid, and society comes out ahead.

Can perform the same procedure on most thugs with a 12ga at much less expense.....................

Several years ago India offered a transistor radio for males who underwent a Vasectomy.

I'm not hopeful about your proposal given these same thugs won't even consider neutering their dogs for free to prevent unwanted animals. As a matter of fact they'll actively fight you on it.

its a nifty idea, but I'd make them pay for it themselves understanding just how much they will not pay in child support later

In the original Freakonomics the authors Levitt and Dubner pointed out the probable cause and effect relationship between the legalization of abortion and the dramatic drop in crime later. This proposal might provide similar benefits in a way more acceptable to many people. No matter what the benefit to society might be, however, a significant number of people would object to such a program for no other reason than that it would be a reward for acting responsibly in a way that they should without any incentive: Nose, say goodbye to face.

On the other hand, I fear that the men who would benefit society the most by taking advantage of the program would be the least likely to do so.

Believe that many of the thugs pride themselves on their potency. Siring a number of children from an equal number of females enhances their reputation.

That is the reason for the cash bribe.... Perhaps the amount needs to be adjusted to get the desired response. Bad guys likely cost society way past $100,000 over a lifetime of crime and medical costs.

Sounds like a reverse version of organ trafficking. Granted the libertarian in me says do what you want with your body. But the vast government can offer incentives that are against the individuals best interest. Because, hey, it’s only money, right?

I'd rather they get rid of welfare.

I'd prefer someone to come up with a means to make only gainfully employed and married people fertile.

Respectfully, it would only become yet another way to channel tax payer funds to ne’er do wells, once the politicians got ahold of it.
