I was engaged in conversation with a more senior Doc at work earlier this week and something that I said, or rather perhaps the way that I had phrased something sparked a their memory of the speech below. This is the time of year where commencement speeches are going to again be in full swing. The population here are some of the most cerebral and the digital discourse here has taught me a great deal over the past decade. When I reviewed this speech, I feel like I was being complimented in the context of the conversation that brought this up. Simplistically put: having ability and some knowledge of how to control my emotions and not let them control the course of my day or my life. I would be interested to hear your takes, thoughts and musings on this speech and what it perhaps evokes in you all. I was there. My son graduated that year, along with his now wife. I wish I could say I was greatly moved but I think my focus was wavering. It was warm. It was outside. I do remember we all talked about it afterwards but not overmuch. Proud parents and all. That photo is elsewhere, he did have on a suit I think. I'm going to go back and give it a listen.
