Last December, I lost one of my memory cards for my dashcam and was pretty sure it happened in the washer because I found the SD Card adapter in one of my pants pockets but no MicroSD card.

So tonight, I had just finished a 2nd load of laundry and was emptying my dryer and noticed something laying in the bottom of the dryer drum and realized it was my memory card; I think it's been stuck in the washer for months and got moved to the dryer when I transferred one of the loads from the washer!

I popped the card into my computer and was able to open it, copied some video clips to it(was originally a blank card) and it copied without any issues and played the videos.

I'm totally stoked, it's like getting $25 back Big Grin

That sounds like one of those things you share in a product review.

If you lost it last December, it should be clean and have a fresh smell.

Nice!

I lost a key once. About a year later, my wife mentioned the washer didn’t seem to be draining properly. Looked it up on the internet, found a video that showed our washer had a drain trap and found the key in it.

If you had any financial records on the card you could've been charged with laundering money. Big Grin

In my experience, washing is fine, drying kills them most of the time. I'm not proud of the amount of data I have for this conclusion.

Static, heat, and moisture can injure electronic components, so I wouldn't' trust that card for anything important.

It may work for the moment, but it's life may end at any time, due to the stresses it's been under.

If it were me, I'd just get my data off of it, break it for security reasons, it and toss it away.

I thought those were "dry flat" only.

Nice.

I'm a photographer. One of my accounts for sixteen years was an Indian casino. I resisted going from film to digital as long as I could One of the events I covered for them was boxing. With film I was limited on how many rolls for five to six + hours of shooting. It really sharpened my skills. Wel in the early digital, I came home at 2:30am, stripped and threw my cloths into the wash, they I showered. The next day I realized in my vest pocket was my card. HOLY CRAP...I thought I lost the entire evenings event. Nope, every image was on it - 900 plus photos.

Don't. drink & drive, don't even putt.
