Evidently the “We Build the Wall” guys have gotten caught with their hand in the cookie jar. I donated a piddling amount to their project after biden canceled the Border Wall. Here’s the synopsis from the email I received:

“Starting in approximately December 2018, Brian Kolfage and his co-defendants orchestrated a scheme to defraud hundreds of thousands of donors in connection with an online crowdfunding campaign ultimately known as “We Build the Wall” that raised more than $25,000,000 to build a wall along the southern border of the United States. To induce donors to donate to the campaign, the defendants repeatedly and falsely assured the public that they would “not take a penny in salary or compensation” and that “100% of the funds raised…will be used in the execution of our mission and purpose.” However, the defendants and others received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donor funds from We Build the Wall, which they each used in a manner inconsistent with the organization’s public representations. To conceal the payments, the defendants devised a scheme to route those payments through entities and bank accounts that they controlled. They took various steps to obscure or conceal these payments, including by using fake invoices and sham contracts.

The defendants were convicted and the United States obtained criminal forfeiture orders against seized funds and real property. The court ordered restitution to over 349,000 victims who were defrauded through the scheme.”

I suppose I’ll fill out the form and try to get a little dab of money back.

Have any of you guys gotten the email, and if do, what do you plan to do?

Not to disparage the donors, but who approves a private entity to build a wall between the US and Mexico? Where on the border? How long a fence? The entire border? IMO, it kind of raised a red flag from the get-go.

Amazing we can find evidence, locate the money, follow the trail, indict, arrest and convict two guys but we can't find who's funding the Protests, nor any of the money going through MN to Somalia through the airport in suitcases for years....

Guess they didn't grease the right politicians campaign funds...

Looks like 349,000 people thought it was worthwhile for whatever reason. Maybe some of them live on the border and were sick of having seemingly endless hordes of illegals trespassing on their property and dealing with the mess they left behind. I got tired of having the motherfuckers getting in my cabin on our ranch about 70 miles from the border and tearing shit up looking for something they could steal. If I locked the door they’d kick it down or break a window to get in.

There are long stretches of the border where the only demarcation is a barb wire fence. And no doubt also stretches where there is no demarcation at all.
