I believe the state has been increasing the speed limits in many areas. We've got sections of I-635 right in Dallas with a 70mph limit.

Most speeding tickets are BS, mere revenue generation, a malum prohibitum, victimless crime. I love it when absurdly low speed limits are set on wide open, lightly trafficked stretches of road. Now, if excessive speed is found to be a factor in or cause of an accident, especially one causing injuries or death, then they can get the proverbial book thrown at them.
