Can't dispute that! I heard it a bunch when I mentioned buying a TDI Passat.

So I bought it... and I bought the warranty. Wink

God bless America.

I'm not going to dispute the money that could be involved. Our Q5 needed brakes. The dealer quoted $2500 for pads, rotors, and the labor. ECS tuning has a kit available that includes everything but the fluid for $480 shipped to my door, for fronts and rears! It wasn't bad to do, once you know how to do them. YouTube helped with some parts of the repair. There were some tools I didn't have on hand but will now make any brake job a piece of cake for any make in the future, but nothing Audi specific. I need to get an Erwin subscription and make a copy of the repair manual for both the Q5 and the A6 and I should be set to tackle any job required in the future.

As I said before, if you have the dealer make your repairs, have deep pockets but if you are capable of doing your own repairs you can save a ton of money.

This. Hence the reason I linked to ETS in my earlier post.
Though I still used the dealership for some parts.

I really enjoyed my A4 and wish I would have kept it longer but my GSD was no longer a puppy and needed an SUV.
It was due for a Timing belt and water pump change. The job scared me there were plenty of write ups with pics on the forum but YouTube was nothing like it was today. I also did not have a garage at the time.
I’d do the job in a heartbeat now with no hesitation.

Been a couple days with no reply on the OP.
I am anxious to hear more and hope he gets it.

I always find out later what a PITA repairs can be. For the hell of it - Google a wiring harness issue and see where it takes you. Along the way you may change your mind about old brittle cars.

Ask my buddy with his really pretty old Mercedes.

It is a legit Audi RS 4 avant- wagon built in 2001 March. I am bidding on it and don’t ask. It is over 25 k already. New one is 130k.

So I got out bid. It was on collecting cars.com If you want to look. It was a beautiful car. I got outbid because the Airforce was running behind getting me out of camp Dwyer Afghanistan to Kuwait. I am so pissed I lost the car.

Is it an auction we can watch?? Not too long ago a Sigforum member was in a bidding war on Bring a Trailer that was fun to watch.

That’s a review of the B6 S4. The B7 S4s shared the same 4.2 liter V-8 engine as the B6, which is a maintenance nightmare.

S4 and RS4 while similar the RS4 changes the ballgame substantially.
Back when I bought my A4 Avant I passed up a Yellow S4 Avant with 20k miles more but had the timing belt and water pump already done unlike the A4 I ended up buying.
I should have bought the S4 at the time.
Now a days a B5 in the S trim may get a look if done right but certainly not contemplate buying.
An RS4 Avant on the other hand well they are the Unicorns Unicorn here in the states.

They made 6,000 total from 99-01 and NONE were allocated to the US.
So they have been imported individually and not easily at all to the states. I am not sure as there is no official record I have ever seen but since we have not reached the 25 year import rule on these guys I am guessing you can count the number imported on 2 hands but even more possibly only on 1 hand.

I was prepared to go to 69-70k. Hard to bid on a C17. Lol.
